What makes Aquinas different? What Makes Aquinas Different? Show Transcript at aquinus we try and uh put our students on a path to just being the best versions of themselves we have a saying here that the next 4 years are going to affect the next 40 of their lives my name is d after Amanda Egan and I am the principal of acquaintances High School I feel extremely blessed to be in this position as the principal of aquinus and to have the opportunity to form our students as servant leaders in and the truth of the Gospel so what that means to me is it's more than about just educating our students academically but we actually have an a real opportunity here to form our students spiritually athletically and make it more than just a typical education but this is really an opportunity to just change the trajectory for some of their lives like the school did for me come to aquinus was the opportunities it has and the classes I can take I want to become a psychologist and thankfully they have a psychology class cuss for 3 years and my favorite part about it is definitely the community I really like how the involves the community as in the sports and academics and just how we're all so close together tomorrow Valley I didn't know much about aquinus until I got here I came here for better education and to be part of a great football team I'm really excited about um our use of iPads and the technology we've uh been able to integrate into the learning environment and what kids get to do um students get to be creative draw create music um create videos and express their learning and a bunch of different ways that um that students in other schools might not get the chance to do I'm a member of the National Honor Society the chapter we have here at aquinus and it's a really rewarding um program because we get to tutor kids who maybe are struggling and we get to be like academic mentors to other kids on campus I have been working at a clintus going on 6 years I helped guide them in their academic Endeavors and I also offer social emotional support our teacher is really enthusiastic to help us to learn especially for the international student because our language is not that good but our teacher is really good at to helping the students to express their self the diversity here at aquinus is like very very various and there's many types of cultures and people here from different backgrounds over the next few years I'm really looking forward to forward to football and getting better academically and better in faith hi I'm Aaron Delarosa boy athletic director and I'm Renee Aviles the athletic director for our lady Falcons for the last 60 years the aquinus athletic program has strived for excellence on the field and in the classroom we have been competitive in all aspects of sports while also playing with a Christian like manner we are extremely proud of the history of aquinus athletic program over 75% of our student body participate in sports both on campus and partner locations we offer Sports year round and I think the most gratifying part about that is that there's always something to do here on campus the aquinus community sets itself apart creating opportunities for our students to live out the aquinus mission we Foster that mindset and our student athletes and look to continue to do so in the future in the future you know I'm just excited that we have the opportunity to to work with so many kids is our population continues to grow um and physically our our campus continues to grow um with the addition of our Performing Arts Center um and uh our new stem building and Art Labs um we're just really excited about the future and uh the great opportunity to be here with such wonderful kids um so it's an exciting time to be at aquinus at aquinus you don't just make friends that are just going to last these 4 years it's like friends that you're going to be able to have for a lifetime
